1v1 Off-Ball Screens: Create and Read
1v1 scoring game with two offensive support players who pass and set off-ball screens. The scorer plays with zero dribbles and uses screens, fakes, and re-screen actions to create an advantage.
Instructions
- Set 1 offensive player, 1 defender, and 2 offensive support players in the playing area
- Let the support players start in coach-selected spots, or let them choose their spacing for more freedom
- The offensive player passes to either support player
- The offensive player plays to score with zero dribbles
- The 2 support players help the scorer by setting screens, including back screens, flare screens, and pin-downs
- Score normal points for made baskets: 2s and 3s
- Award 1 extra point for an assist and 1 extra point for a screen assist
Coaching Points
- Get the defender into the screen
- Use fakes before using the screen
- Re-trigger the action if no advantage is created on the catch
- Adjust the screening angle based on the defender’s position
Variations
- Adjust player spacing and starting positions
- Modify the playing area, such as using only one side
- Add a secondary defender near the rim
