Finishing Through Contact: Two-Step Bump
Controlled-rim finishing where a defender gives light body contact and a vertical contest, teaching balance and foul-draw habits safely.
Instructions
- Groups of 3: driver on wing with ball, defender at the edge of the lane, rebounder under rim.
- Driver attacks with 2 hard dribbles to the paint.
- Defender slides into legal position and gives a light shoulder-to-shoulder bump, then contests vertically
- Driver finishes strong (layup or power finish)
- Rotate: driver becomes defender, defender becomes rebounder, rebounder becomes driver
Coaching Points
- Driver: get shoulder into defender on your terms (stay under control)
- Finish off two feet when possible to absorb contact
- Eyes on the rim through contact; don’t drift away
- Defender contests vertical with hands up
