Five-Spot Pressure Shooting
Partners complete a five-spot shooting challenge. The shooter must make 5 shots from each position before advancing. Three consecutive misses reset the score to 0 at that position, adding pressure and consistency demands.
Instructions
- Work in pairs
- Choose 5 shooting positions on the court
- Start at the first position and shoot until reaching 5 makes
- If the shooter misses 3 shots in a row, reset the score for that position to 0
- After one position is completed, switch players
- Continue until all 5 positions are completed
Coaching Points
- Use the drill to reinforce repeatable shot execution under pressure
- Ensure passer is executing game-like, precise, strong passes
Variations
- Use static shooting
- Use game-representative shots: off the dribble, relocate and catch and shoot, or shoot off screens
- Adjust the 5-make target and 3-miss reset rule to match team level
Want this in your own library, with your coaching points on it? Building a drill library you'll actually reuse covers what to write down so a drill still works next season.
