Full-Court Cone Dribble Circuit
Four lines work from the corners in a continuous full-court circuit. Players attack each cone with a variety of change-of-direction moves before passing ahead for a give-and-go and rotating to the next line.
Instructions
- Place four lines in the corners
- Place cone zigzags on the dribbling lanes shown in the diagram.
- The first player dribbles to the first cone at speed.
- At each cone, use a change-of-direction move to attack the next cone. Vary the moves throughout the drill.
- After the final cone, pass ahead to the next line for a give-and-go
Coaching Points
- Attack the cone like a live defender
- Change speed after each move accelerating toward the next cone
- Keep eyes up through the cone route (Have the player in the receiving line show numbers with one hand. The dribbler calls the numbers out while dribbling)
- Stay low and protect the ball when changing direction
Variations
- Use a variety of moves: crossover, between-the-legs, behind-the-back, spin, retreat, hesitation, and inside-out
- Add a retreat dribble or back-up dribble at each cone to simulate defender pressure, such as during an aggressive pick-and-roll coverage
