Circle Match-Up Box-Out and Transition
Box-out drill for 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 groups. Defenders communicate, identify the right player to box out, and transition quickly after securing the rebound.
Instructions
- - Position offensive players in different spots on the floor.
- - Defenders jog in a circle.
- - When a shot goes up, each defender matches the closest attacker and boxes out.
- - If offense gets the rebound, continue play.
- - If defense gets the rebound, make a quick transition to the other basket.
- - Score 1 point for an offensive rebound and 1 point for a basket.
Coaching Points
- Make contact with the attacker before going to the ball.
- Make contact as far from the basket as possible. Do not wait for the attacker to enter the paint.
Want this in your own library, with your coaching points on it? Building a drill library you'll actually reuse covers what to write down so a drill still works next season.
