Continuous 3v2 Transition
Three offensive players attack two defenders in transition. The drill runs continuously from end to end, forcing quick spacing, fast decisions, and defensive communication in a live numbers-advantage situation.
Instructions
- Start with three offensive players at half court and two defenders set in the frontcourt
- Offense attacks 3v2 toward the basket. The ball handler pushes the middle while both wings run wide lanes
- Offense plays live until a score, stop, rebound, or turnover
- After the possession, the two defenders attack the other way with a player from the waiting line
- Two players from the previous offensive group stay as the next defenders
Coaching Points
- Sprint wide lanes
- Pass ahead when possible
- Encourage open shots if your system rewards them
- Defenders communicate ball responsibilities early
- First defender stops the ball. Second defender protects the rim and reads the next pass
Variations
- Limit the offense to two passes before the shot
- Use two outlet lines. No putbacks. After any shot, the rebound is live only to start the next trip. Whoever secures the ball, offense or defense, outlets and joins the outside players going to the other basket
