4v3+1 Fast Break
Four offensive players attack in transition against three defenders, with one trailing defender sprinting back to recover.
Instructions
- Start four offensive players on the baseline and four defenders facing them at the free-throw line. Use one ball
- One defender passes to any offensive player
- The defender matched to the receiver touches the baseline, then sprints back to recover and make it 4v4 as early as possible
- Offense attacks immediately in a 4v3+1 advantage
- Play live until a score, stop, rebound, or turnover
- After the possession, both teams come back the other way 4v4
- Rotate groups
Coaching Points
- Offense sprints wide lanes to create spacing
- Attack before the recovering defender gets matched
- Pass ahead when a teammate has an advantage
- Make the defense commit
- First defender stops the ball. Other defenders protect the rim and match shooters
- Recovering defender sprints back, communicates, and finds the most dangerous threat

- Add a shot clock to the 4v3+1 possession
