Instructions

  1. Set three players: passer on the wing, offensive post on the opposite block, and defender in weak-side help position
  2. On the coach’s signal, the offensive player works to get post position. Defender fronts or plays 3/4 denial based on your defensive system.
  3. Passer has 3 seconds to make the entry pass.
  4. II the entry is completed, play live 1v1 until a score or stop. Limit the offensive player to 2 dribbles.
  5. If the entry is denied for 3 seconds, reset and count it as a defensive win.
  6. Rotate offense to defense, defense to passer, and passer to offense.

Coaching Points

  • Show a clear target hand for the passer.
  • Seal and maintain contact until you go get the ball.
  • After the catch, spin around the defender using footwork and legal elbow position. Do not hook
  • Defender uses footwork to get around the post player, fighting for the position without holding or grabbing

Variations

  • Start from different positions
  • Do not allow lob passes
  • Award the defense 1 point if the offensive player catches the entry pass away from the paint
